ASOV Burundi

ASOV Burundi was created in 2016 by the activists in DR Congo. The organization in Burundi has functioned as a support to the activities and a security for the implementation as the security situation in the DR Congo meant risks in the implementation as well as limitations in contact with the outside world due to periodic lack of access to the internet and electricity.

Already in 2017, work began where HIV-positive and raped women and their family members were reached with information about HIV, sexual rights, equality and human rights. Above all, HIV-positive women have strengthened their position in society by being offered a microloan in the form of a women’s cooperative.

Implementing changes at the societal level is a long process that takes several years to complete. ASOV Burundi, in collaboration with ASOV DR Congo, has taken great steps at the start towards achieving these changes.
