A weekend that was packed with activities both on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Young ASOV had tutoring sessions and dance lessons for their members. Later in the evening, the adults were to receive education with a particular focus on discrimination. It was a shorter session on Friday that continued into Saturday morning.

We learned how to counteract Afro-phobia by providing individuals facing racism the opportunity to report discrimination and racism they encounter. We clarified what discrimination actually entails, knowledge about discrimination laws, and information on where they can seek help if experiencing racism or discrimination.

The seven grounds for discrimination in Sweden are:

  1. Gender
  2. Gender identity or expression
  3. Ethnicity
  4. Religion or other beliefs
  5. Disability
  6. Sexual orientation
  7. Age

If you feel that you are being discriminated against in society, do not hesitate to file a report or seek advice and support here.

Thank you to everyone who participated during the weekend, and a big thanks to the Anti-Discrimination Agency.
